It's Thanksgiving weekend in the Bay Area and we've been blessed with pretty fine weather (in the 70's), so I was really looking forward to going back to Treasure Island to visit the flea market once again. For those of you that don't know about it yet, the Treasure Island Flea is located on beautiful Treasure Island near San Francisco, CA (Avenue of the Palms, Treasure Island, San Francisco, CA, 415-898-0245, www.TreasureIslandFlea.com, Info@TreasureIslandFlea.com). This flea market is unique because it has the most spectacular views of the San Francisco skyline from bridge to bridge. But today neither bridge or the city were visible due to fog.
I took along my friend, Joey, who had never been to Treasure Island and also wanted to see what the Treasure Island Flea was about. We drove to Treasure Island from Berkeley over the Bay Bridge in a ghostly fog that first appeared this morning. Once we got off the Bridge and drove around the island toward the flea market, it was like being in another world full of nature and open space, bordering the beautiful San Francisco bay.
There weren't as many people as usual at the the Treasure Island Flea, but it was still hopping. Shoppers wandered around looking at clothes, furniture, jewelry and crafts to the beat of the flea market band, entertaining everyone from the lawn. The music reminded me of the Grateful Dead who are the spirit of San Francisco. We had a great time there and I plan to come back again soon. Hope you enjoy the photos of the trip to the the Treasure Island Flea.
