Treasure Island Vintage

Today I discovered a new flea market.  It's on Treasure Island near the Bay Bridge in San Francisco.  It's only one weekend a month, so I didn't want to miss it.  Although I have lived in the Bay Area for several years, I have never been to Treasure Island.  It is really a wild and beautiful ride from the freeway to Avenue of the Palms where the flea market is located.  This fairly new flea market was the idea of a couple that wanted to have a flea market with vintage items along with handmade clothing, jewelry, furniture and more.

I met my friend, Kathy, there who traveled via bus from San Francisco.  The first thing we saw was a giant wire sculpture of a beautiful, dancing woman.  I was told that it came from Burning Man and is called "Bliss."  As we walked through the main gate, we were met by a French singer playing an instrument from at least the 19th century.  It definitely set the tone.

We spent at least two hours walking around looking at vintage and contemporary clothes, shoes, purses and cute dogs.   There were many other interesting there too, but I concentrated on the clothes.  I want to acknowledge three vendors that I met today that had my favorite vintage clothes.  (1) C&M Vintage Pros, 408-691-5741, jagman0007@yahoo.com; (2) The Window Lady, 510-326-6324, www.etsy.com/shop/thewindowlady and (3) Nested Treasures, 113 Rickenbacker Circle, Livermore.  Proceeds from Nested Treasures goes to help animals.

And speaking of animals, there were many at Treasure Island Flea Market today along with the vintage clothes.  The ones in the baby buggies are actually service animals who enjoy being served.  There was also a fantastic band with a drummer who did not look over six years old.
